TPWD Policy Regarding Automated Transfer of CWD

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD) Policy Regarding Automated Transfer of Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) Test Results from Texas A&M Veterinary Medical Diagnostic Laboratory (TVMDL)

TPWD and TAHC would like to remind all deer breeders and release site owners that all tissue samples submitted to TVMDL for CWD testing must be accompanied by the TVMDL accession form found in TWIMS, as opposed to other versions of the accession form. This requirement applies to age- eligible mortalities that occur in breeding facilities and deer that are harvested on Class II and Class III release sites where CWD testing requirements remain in effect.

Tissue samples submitted to TVMDL that are not accompanied by the appropriate accession form lack required information and formatting to allow for the successful automatic transfer of test results to TWIMS which significantly delays, and at times  prevents, TPWD’s ability to credit a facility with testing

Please refer to the attached documents for more information on acquiring and completing the proper accession forms.
